In the course he held at Yancoal Australia Limited, Quentin Flannery’s expertise in the resource industry was clearly established as one of Australia’s youngest marketing managers with a $1-BN turnover. Quentin is currently the director of several family businesses, where he manages all the financial portfolio strategies and tradings with a particular emphasis on capital, oil investments, and trading. Quentin has a range of start-up firms and fast-growth companies, including the world-class Asian trade firm AuMake International, NSW electricity provider Sunset Power International, Delta Coal, a thermal coal mining company, and Field Orthopedics, a medical technology start-up. Quentin Flannery also heads a number of family-owned firms and supervises stock portfolio planning and trading. He is involved in the management of Flannery Foundation’s financial aspects.
Quentin retains managers of many private and public enterprises outside the Foundation. He is also acting as an Australian charity corporate ambassador, Act for Kids. This bursary supports students who pursue careers focusing on resources, particularly in the mining, geology, or metallurgy fields. One thing was essential to Quentin Flannery’s performance throughout his career in the energy and resources industry. This is why the Quentin Flannery Resources Scholarship provides qualified candidates not only with the usual financial support but also with one-on-one support. To qualify, students must show that during times of big technical changes and innovations they address the problems faced by the mining industry. Successful applicants will be funded with a $5,000 award, and advice from Quentin and his staff will help them start their careers from Ilwella to become the industry leaders of the future.
