Over at the AAC (American Addiction Centers), they are always keeping their minds open to those with addiction. They are never judging them or looking down on them. They are accepting them, exactly as they are, with open arms. It is how they operate as a treatment center. They have treatment plans for each and every addict that walks into one of their facilities.
AAC know there is always something new to learn and always something new to unearth. There is no such thing as too much information out there. They want to learn as much information as possible on addiction. It is why they talk to veterans, as they know a lot of veterans struggle when they come back from the war with addiction.
With the surveys they have conducted on those who binge drink, they understand what made them do it in the first place. The surveys also help them learn why someone would get blackout drunk and decide to drive home.
There is always something around the corner for them to learn about for the people out there. They can never gather enough information for the public. As the old adage goes, “Knowledge is power.” They truly believe that, and they live by that motto. It is what keeps them running, and it is what motivates them as a company. It is why they are looking into AUD (alcohol use disorder). They are trying to get people to know it is truly a disease and it is not a choice. In film and television, so often, they portray people that drink as funny or interesting. There is nothing funny or interesting about drinking.
They are also trying to let people know there is a difference between someone that drinks socially and someone that drinks so much they can’t live without it in their lives. Once again, there is a big difference. Things in life are not always as black and white as people would like to portray to the general public.
There is always more to the story. That is what the AAC does: they look for what is underneath the surface and what someone is missing. They will find out and when they find it, they are going to use it to help those at one of the many AAC treatment centers.
For them, it is all about staying ahead of the curve. They don’t want to be late to the dance, so to speak. They want to be ready and have the information handy. For them, they have taken on a big responsibility. However, it is one they can handle with flying colors because they have trained and prepared for this.
